Many of today’s video games are built by large teams of specialists, but the basics of game design are easy to learn at any age. These core principles also help develop skills in coding, logic, and problem-solving.
In this week-long Explorers Program workshop, students will explore the fundamentals of game design through hands-on activities and interactive lessons. In this exciting fantasy-themed workshop, they’ll learn how to build enchanted levels, create magical challenges, and structure fun gameplay. Instructors will guide them step-by-step using Microsoft’s MakeCode Arcade platform to develop simple games from scratch.
By the end of the workshop, students will have created their own retro-style fantasy game and take it home on a handheld console to play and share.
Projects in this workshop may include: Designing and building a dungeon for an adventure game and designing a platformer game in real life using chalk
Great class and experience – [our daughter] talked about it a lot and continues to work on her pieces at night.
