As students’ appreciation for art matures, they become capable of envisioning and creating more complex works, including the ability to explore motion through animation. At this stage, fostering their passion for artistic expression is crucial, as they develop the skills to transform ideas into illustrations or dynamic moving images. Animation can be a powerful tool for them to experiment with storytelling, timing, and visual flow.
This Adventurers workshop builds on techniques they’ve developed as young learners, introducing more sophisticated approaches to visual storytelling. In addition to refining drawing and painting skills, a key focus will be on animation fundamentals. Students will learn how to transform static images into animated sequences, exploring concepts like frame-by-frame movement, timing, and character expression.
By the end of the workshop, participants will combine everything they’ve learned to produce their own short 2D animated clips, bringing their creative visions to life.
Projects in this workshop may include: Creating an attack animation for a video game or animating a slapstick “Three Stooges”-esque skit
It’s awesome to sit in the pickup line and just see all the wild haired kids come out and run to tell their parents what they did today. This is an awesome thing you have created and it’s sparking little fires of joy, curiosity, and creativity in a world so run by responsibility and expectations. Free expression and exploration is magic.
