The Nintendo Switch has changed the way we think about gaming, bringing creativity and innovation together in one amazing platform. Learning how to make games for the Switch is a unique chance to combine technical skills with imaginative storytelling. It’s not just about coding – it’s about understanding what makes games fun and bringing those ideas to life.
In this workshop, students will get hands-on with professional tools like Unity and Nintendo Switch development kits to create their own games. They’ll dive into technical and systems design, explore level design techniques, and learn how to optimize games for smooth performance. Working on their own projects, students will bring their ideas to life and discover what makes the Nintendo Switch such an exciting platform for developers.
By the end of the workshop, students will have hands-on experience working with Nintendo Switch development kits, gaining an understanding of how to design and optimize games for this unique platform. They’ll learn to tackle real-world challenges in game development, from crafting engaging levels to ensuring smooth performance, and walk away with the skills and confidence to pursue more advanced projects and opportunities in the future.
[My son] rarely talks about what he does in a camp. So when he volunteered information at the end of each day I knew he was loving the camp. The small group allowed him to get to know some of his camp peers and his instructors really well. On the last day of camp, before I even asked his thoughts, he asked ‘do I have any more camps with DigiPen this summer?’ Then he immediately went on to say he wanted to sign up for a bunch of them next summer because he learned so much.
