Mobile gaming is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the video game industry, captivating millions of players worldwide. As smartphones become increasingly powerful, the demand for innovative and engaging mobile games continues to rise. Understanding how to develop these games not only equips students with valuable skills for future career opportunities but also encourages creativity and problem-solving as they bring their ideas to life.
In this workshop, students will dive into the world of mobile game development using Unity, a leading platform in the industry. They will learn the fundamentals of game design, user interface (UI) creation, and how to implement interactive elements. Through hands-on projects, students will work collaboratively to design, develop, and test their own mobile games, gaining practical experience in coding, asset management, and game mechanics.
At the end of the workshop, students will have a fully functional mobile game that they can share with family and friends. They will also gain a portfolio piece that showcases their skills and creativity, setting a strong foundation for further exploration in game development.
Projects in this workshop may include: Creating an endless runner game prototype or creating an adventure game with collectibles
[My son] rarely talks about what he does in a camp. So when he volunteered information at the end of each day I knew he was loving the camp. The small group allowed him to get to know some of his camp peers and his instructors really well. On the last day of camp, before I even asked his thoughts, he asked ‘do I have any more camps with DigiPen this summer?’ Then he immediately went on to say he wanted to sign up for a bunch of them next summer because he learned so much.
