Minecraft is a game with near infinite replay potential thanks to a large, dedicated community of modders. Mods exist in many video games and allow both developers and average users to do everything from introducing minor tweaks to entirely new levels and game behaviors. In doing so, modding can touch on programming, art design, game design, and more.
This Adventurers workshop gives students a hands-on introduction to Minecraft modding, including applying new image assets to the game and adding or editing in-game behaviors. Instructors will guide students on the use of an easy-to-understand mod interface so the fun can continue on their home PCs.
By the end of the workshop, students will be able to design and create their own mods to use themselves or share with friends and family who also play Minecraft.
Projects in this workshop may include: Designing a playable Minecraft character skin or designing and implementing custom in-game blocks.
[My son] rarely talks about what he does in a camp. So when he volunteered information at the end of each day I knew he was loving the camp. The small group allowed him to get to know some of his camp peers and his instructors really well. On the last day of camp, before I even asked his thoughts, he asked ‘do I have any more camps with DigiPen this summer?’ Then he immediately went on to say he wanted to sign up for a bunch of them next summer because he learned so much.
