Unreal Engine is one of the most comprehensive tools video game developers have at their disposal. This open-source program has been used to produce many AAA games such as Fortnite, Borderlands 3, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. While often the choice for big-budget development teams, it can also be used by independent developers looking for a powerful game engine.
This Innovators workshop gives students an overview of Unreal Engine 5 and covers the entire game design and development process, with added instruction in visual effects, more complex systems, and more involved designs. Instructors will guide students through each step to ensure aspiring amateur developers or soon-to-be professional developers have a great base of knowledge to start with.
By the end of the course, students will have the ability to design and iterate their very own game which they can continue and develop and refine at home.
Projects in this workshop may include: Creating multiple enemy agents for their game and developing a 3D-platformer game.
[My son] rarely talks about what he does in a camp. So when he volunteered information at the end of each day I knew he was loving the camp. The small group allowed him to get to know some of his camp peers and his instructors really well. On the last day of camp, before I even asked his thoughts, he asked ‘do I have any more camps with DigiPen this summer?’ Then he immediately went on to say he wanted to sign up for a bunch of them next summer because he learned so much.
