The increasing popularity of games like Fortnite means that massive development teams are constantly building complex tools for designers and artists to generate new content for players. Designing the large maps and programming the complex systems used in these games may seem intimidating, but these same skills can easily lead to a career in a number of fields!
Students in this Adventurers workshop will be introduced to the core concepts of game development while learning to use the Unreal Engine for Fortnite. Instructors will offer students a practical understanding of game development and the importance of well-designed game maps and modes that keep players engaged.
By the end of the workshop, students will be able to design, program, and iterate their own game modes and additional systems for Fortnite.
Projects in this workshop may include: Developing a playable parkour game and creating a racing game.
It’s awesome to sit in the pickup line and just see all the wild haired kids come out and run to tell their parents what they did today. This is an awesome thing you have created and it’s sparking little fires of joy, curiosity, and creativity in a world so run by responsibility and expectations. Free expression and exploration is magic.
