foundry10 Scholarship

Open World and foundry10 believe that innovation, building creative abilities, and learning through play are critically important to student development and success, both in and out of the classroom. Open World is proud to partner with foundry10 to provide greater access to our summer workshops for campers who would not otherwise have the financial means to attend.

About foundry10

foundry10 is an education research organization with a philanthropic focus on expanding ideas about learning and creating direct value for youth. In collaboration with a wide range of partners, we surface, evaluate, and share opportunities to better support youth learning both inside and outside the classroom. Building on more than a decade of impactful work, our unique approach blends applied and experimental research, philanthropy, and education programs rooted in evidence-based best practices. Awards

Scholarships are awarded at a discount of 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of your camper’s workshop tuition. Awards are determined at the discretion of the scholarship committee and by the amount of funding available. Since funds are limited, scholarship awards are limited to one workshop per camper, per year. The scholarship application closes on April 1 and families will be notified of awards by April 15.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Camper must be 6-18 years old at the time of the workshop
  • A separate application must be completed for each camper, including those in the same household
  • Multi-camper families may submit one set of support financial documentation

All scholarship applications are considered, but priority is given to families who meet some or all of the following criteria:

  • Parent/guardian’s total household income is at or below 80% of the King County median household income
  • Family receives benefits from an assistance program such as WIC, Basic Food, or SNAP
  • Camper qualifies for free and reduced lunch program
  • Camper is in foster care currently, or was during the 2025-26 school year

Here are the materials you can use in your application:

  • Current or previous year’s tax return form(s) for your household
  • A statement of benefits from an assistance program
  • A statement of eligibility for free or reduced school lunches
  • A general letter from a service provider or professional (case worker, social worker, etc.) with contact information that clearly states the family’s circumstances

Incoming DigiPen Student Scholarship

DigiPen Tuition Scholarship

Open World is proud to announce that for these incoming artists, designers, programmers, and musicians, tuition they’ve paid toward their summers at Open World can be applied to their collegiate tuition at DigiPen Institute of Technology. This scholarship will be equal to ALL tuition paid for that specific student’s Open World experience.

The policies for this scholarship are as follows:

  • The scholarship will be applied across four years. For example, if a student has paid a total of $4,000 in Open World tuition, they will receive a scholarship of $1,000 per year.

  • This scholarship can be combined with other scholarships awarded to the student, but DigiPen will cap the scholarship amount to not exceed a semester of tuition.

  • DigiPen will not increase the scholarship amount if the student graduates early.

  • DigiPen will not prorate the scholarship amount if the student attends less than full time.

All Open World students who have been admitted to DigiPen and fill out the form at least two weeks prior to the beginning of their first term will receive the scholarship.
