Open World by DigiPen Launches Summer 2023 Workshops
Open World by DigiPen released their full schedule of over 40 workshops that will run during their inaugural Summer 2023 season. The daily drop-off/pick-up workshops for students ages 5–18 cover a variety of STEAM-related subjects, including computer science, game design, art and animation, music and sound design, engineering, and more. Workshops will be running from June 26, 2023 through August 11, 2023 in one- and two-week sessions.
“The Open World team is thrilled to introduce our unique approach to STEAM workshops,” says Emily Kirby, Vice President of Open World by DigiPen. “With the program’s special focus on exploration, fun, industry connection, problem solving, and care, we’re confident we have an exciting summer experience to offer to kids of all ages.”
In addition to guided hands-on assignments and take-home projects with Open World’s talented instructors, every workshop also includes a special visit by a creative professional from the industry who will help students connect what they’ve been learning to real-world careers. The Masterclass series of workshops for students aged 14–18 will be one of the highlights of the summer, with courses custom developed and taught directly by DigiPen’s expert faculty or industry professional.
Open World is a new venture by DigiPen Institute of Technology, a leader in science, art, and technology education since 1988. In addition to offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees in STEAM fields, DigiPen’s mission has long been to guide and inspire the next generation of innovators. Open World is an extension of that mission and aims to approach teaching STEAM in a new way.
“Everyone at DigiPen is incredibly excited to see Open World’s new approach to K-12 STEAM summer camps,” says Chris Comair, Chief Operating Officer at the school’s Redmond campus. “Throughout our history, we’ve learned a lot about inspiring this age group to pursue art, science, and technology. We know that when you put students in a fun, caring, and engaging environment, they often become their own best teachers. That’s exactly how we’ve designed each Open World workshop’s curriculum.”
