School-Year Workshops
Join us for these upcoming Open World events:
After-School Workshop
Join us this spring for after-school workshops hosted at the DigiPen Redmond campus! This workshops runs Wednesdays, February 26 – May 14, from 5:30 – 6:30PM. Note that there is no session on Mar. 19 or Apr. 16.
Game Development from Start to Finish: In this Open World 10-week after-school class, students will make their own role-playing games. From start to finish, students will learn about the lifecycle of game development and develop their own games using the Smile Game Builder platform and Unity engine. They’ll explore fun and challenging techniques and practical skills, such as using a process, testing their game and making changes, and tracking their progress over time. This workshop combines art, music, design, and programming into one fun and social experience for young game enthusiasts.
Workshops at the MOPOP
We are thrilled to be partnering with a Seattle landmark, the unmatched Museum of Popular Culture, on TWO of our best-selling workshops! Each session, scheduled for winter and spring breaks, takes place at the MOPOP from 9:00 am to 4:00 p.m.
The two workshops available include:
- Feb. 17-21, 2025: Exploring Robotics and Engineering for ages 6-8. In this workshop, students will build and program their own robots! They’ll learn about all the fundamentals of engineering projects, from designing, to building, to testing.
- Apr. 14-18, 2025: Limitless Minecraft Modding for ages 9-13. This workshop gives students a hands-on introduction to Minecraft modding, including applying new image assets to the game and adding or editing in-game behaviors. Instructors will guide students on the use of an easy-to-understand mod interface so the fun can continue on their home PCs.
