Cascadia College to Host Select Open World Workshops this Summer
Open World by DigiPen is excited to announce Cascadia College in Bothell, Washington as a host for several K-12 STEAM workshops during the Summer 2023 season. This additional campus, along with DigiPen’s main campus in Redmond, gives Eastside families extra opportunities to access our fun and engaging workshops in a location that’s convenient for them.
“Cascadia College is excited about partnering with Open World by DigiPen to host young learners to our campus for their summer STEAM workshops,” says Sara Gómez Taylor, Director of Outreach and Marketing for Cascadia College. “Cascadia’s award-winning sustainable campus is an ideal nurturing environment for K-12 students. Our welcoming campus with its green buildings, a 58-acre restored wetland, food forest, and campus farm is a living laboratory for students to learn through play. It’s inspiring to be able to host future community college students and leaders!”
Cascadia College’s welcoming, modern campus (shared with the University of Washington Bothell), is an ideal site for Open World’s curriculum, hosting all Explorer workshops (ages 5-8) and several of Adventurer workshops (ages 9-13) this year.* Cascadia’s facilities meet all of the technology requirements for Open World workshops and their quiet campus and recreation areas give students an ideal environment to both play and learn.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer workshops at Cascadia College this summer,” says Emily Kirby, Vice President of Open World by DigiPen. “The additional space allows us to offer a wider range of workshops to all age groups in both locations. Cascadia’s campus is only a short drive from DigiPen and features not only top-notch classroom facilities, but also plenty of green space for students to enjoy.”
Some notable workshop topics that will be covered at the Cascadia location include robotics and Minecraft level design for the Explorers age group and video game programming and music and sound design workshops for the Adventurers age group. To help families that may have students attending workshops at both Cascadia and DigiPen locations simultaneously, start and end times for workshops will be offset between the two campuses.
To search for Open World workshops running at Cascadia College, head to our website’s Workshops page, where you can filter our offerings by location. For Adventurers (ages 9-13), be sure to double-check the dates of specific workshops, as some may run at either DigiPen or Cascadia, depending on the session chosen. All Innovators (ages 14-18) workshops, including Studios and Masterclasses, will be located at DigiPen’s main campus in Redmond for the 2023 season.
