Professional game developers frequently engage in Game Jams, short design challenges meant to build community and enhance their skills. By participating in these events, developers gain hands-on experience, develop innovative solutions, and learn from their peers.
Students in this Adventurers workshop will be introduced to the core concepts of game development and teamwork, operating like their own game studio. Each development team will bring their ideas together while learning how to design simple game mechanics, rapidly create prototypes, and iterate ideas until their game is complete.
At every step, instructors will guide students through their project, giving suggestions, encouragement, and ensuring the scope of their work is achievable within the workshop’s fast-paced timeframe.
[My son] rarely talks about what he does in a camp. So when he volunteered information at the end of each day I knew he was loving the camp. The small group allowed him to get to know some of his camp peers and his instructors really well. On the last day of camp, before I even asked his thoughts, he asked ‘do I have any more camps with DigiPen this summer?’ Then he immediately went on to say he wanted to sign up for a bunch of them next summer because he learned so much.
