Description:
Every sports and esports management debate eventually comes down to the numbers, and professional teams hire data analysts to find and predict the plans teams can use to learn and improve. Data analytics turns raw match data into evidence, showing why the stats everyone trusts can mislead and how data scientists build metrics and models that predict outcomes. Working with real data builds analytical thinking, statistical reasoning, and programming skills that reach well beyond the game.
Innovators will choose a sport, esport, or something they care about and spend two weeks proving things about it with data. In the first week, they clean real histories and rebuild misleading data tables using rate-based statistics. They then design and defend their own rating for their discoveries and test which patterns predict what they’re looking for. In the second week, they move from spreadsheets to Python. They wrangle larger datasets, determine truths, and put it to the test with their peers.
Their ProjectFUN analytics portfolios bring together a custom metric, data-backed findings, and a tested prediction model, proving they can approach questions the way professional data scientists do.
