- Session 1B (June 28-July 2, 2027) @ DigiPen
Early Bird Price: $999 $799.20
Location: DigiPen (Redmond, WA)
Description:
Sculpting has long been a popular form of art and has continued to adapt to the modern age. While sculpture has been integrated into digital film and game pipelines, physical clay maquettes are still widely used for rapid design iteration and remain integral to the development of practical props and costumes. They can also be captured through photogrammetry (the process of mapping physical objects and taking measurements through photographs) and incorporated into digital production workflows.
This two-week workshop for Innovators introduces students to the fundamental workflow of character clay sculpting, beginning with clay conditioning, frame construction, and basic sculpting techniques before diving into more advanced core concepts. Students will explore translating 2D designs into 3D forms, designing through shape and volume, and making intentional decisions with soft and hard plane transitions to create appealing, readable characters.
By the end of the workshop, students will have several sculptures to take home and share, and the skills to continue developing as a sculptor at home or at school.
-
- Sculpting techniques (armatures, blockouts, etc.)
- Painting and texturing techniques

-
- This workshop’s curriculum has been reviewed by a panel of college-level faculty from DigiPen Institute of Technology to ensure its relevance and appropriateness for students aged 14–18.
- As with every Open World workshop, a special visit by an industry guest has been arranged to help students see the connection between their workshop and real-world careers.
I really appreciate the session my child learnt a ton and loved going everyday.
