Two-Week Workshop, Dates Offered:
Session 1A (6/23/25 – 6/27/25)
Tuition: $999 $799.20 off with code EARLYBIRD_25
Game development is an ever-evolving field, with 2D games playing a crucial role in both the industry and indie scenes. Learning how to build games from the ground up provides a valuable foundation in programming, problem-solving, and creative thinking. For students interested in entering the game industry, mastering the principles of game development is essential, and the Godot engine is a powerful, accessible tool to get started.
In this two-week workshop, students will dive into the fundamentals of game design and development using the Godot engine. They will learn about the engine’s interface, scripting in GDScript, and how to create basic game mechanics like player movement, collisions, and animations. Through hands-on projects, students will build and refine a 2D game while exploring key concepts such as game loops, physics, and UI design.
By the end of the workshop, students will have a solid grasp of Godot’s workflow and the skills to design, program, and polish their own 2D game. They will leave with not only a completed game project but also the confidence and knowledge to continue developing their own games in the future.
Projects in this workshop may include: Creating sidescrolling platformer game and building a puzzle adventure game
[My son] rarely talks about what he does in a camp. So when he volunteered information at the end of each day I knew he was loving the camp. The small group allowed him to get to know some of his camp peers and his instructors really well. On the last day of camp, before I even asked his thoughts, he asked ‘do I have any more camps with DigiPen this summer?’ Then he immediately went on to say he wanted to sign up for a bunch of them next summer because he learned so much.
